Central Precocious Puberty in Boys and Girls: Similarities and Differences

چکیده
Central precocious puberty (CPP) is due to the premature activation of hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis, which responsible for appearance secondary sexual characteristics. It occurs before age 8 and 9 in girls boys, respectively. CPP shows higher incidence females than males. Causes are similar both sexes, but idiopathic form more frequent girls, while organic forms Recent studies demonstrated a role some genetic variants pathogenesis CPP. The diagnostic evaluation based on accurate physical examination, assessment pituitary–gonadal pelvic sonography determination bone age. Magnetic resonance central nervous system should be done all boys selected girls. Since 1980s, pharmacologic treatment involves use gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogs. These drugs characterized by few side effects long-term safety. Many data available outcome GnRH analog treated female patients, poor reported boys. Adult height improved sexes.

Precocious puberty can cause several adverse effects on final growth and social behavior in girls. Recently studies showed that low serum vitamin D levels might be associated with precocious puberty. The aim of this research was to investigate the association between serum vitamin D levels and central precocious puberty in girls. Girls with central precocious puberty under the age of 8 we...
متن کاملSerum bisphenol A levels in girls with central precocious puberty
Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical widely used to make polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins lining food and beverage containers. A number of in vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated that BPA has an estrogenic effect by binding to the nuclear estrogen receptor, and early BPA exposure could in induce early puberty. However, effects of human exposure to BPA on pubertal onset and the associat...

Kisspeptin/G-protein couple receptor-54 (GPR54) system plays a key role in the activation of the gonadotropic axis at puberty. Central precocious puberty (CPP) is caused by the premature activation of hypothalamic gonadotropin-releasing hormone secretion. This study was aimed to identify KISS1 gene variations and to investigate the associations between KISS1 gene variations and CPP in Korean gi...

Objectives Bone plays metabolic roles through osteocalcin(OC) when it is released into the systemic circulation in uncarboxylated form. Identified novel metabolic roles of OC include increasing insulin secretion and sensitivity, energy expenditure, reduction of fat mass and mitochondrial proliferation and functional enhancement. The onset of puberty can be influenced metabolic factors. This stu...

BACKGROUND It is sometimes difficult to distinguish between premature thelarche and precocious puberty in girls who develop breasts before the age of 8 years. We evaluated the frequencies of the signs associated with breast development and the factors influencing the presentation of girls with idiopathic central precocious puberty (CPP). METHODS 353 girls monitored 0.9 +/- 0.7 year after the ...
